Installing a Autometer tach

I thought I read somewhere that you need an adapter to hook a Autometer tech up to get a reading??

you can find a adapter/plug and play harness at casper.

Just set up the DIP switches in the back of the tach and hook it up the the test port near the alt with the 2 white wires going to it.

What test port would that be.
this is in a sand rail.I have cut alot out of the factory harness.

all i did was run the tach wire to the green plug behind the alternator and i think you have to cut the brown wire on the tach for a 6 cylinder. the wire cutting is in your instructions

I dont have to cut any wires as mine has the switches.
I will check on that connector behind the alternator.Hopefully I didnt cut it out.
