As I was putting my dash back together, I came accros a connector in the back of the instrument cluster that I can't seem to connect anything to. It is right next to the speedo clable plug/nipple. It has a black connector on the instrument cluster, connected two three wires, red, green and black. The three wires connect to a pastel green connector. I am trying to find out what connects to the green connector...

Sounds like the led & light sensor which is fastened in the back of the speedometer, It is fastened close to the speedometer cable & picks up a signal by using the rotating wheels shiny spots to reflect the led light into the optic sensor. The other end of the cable goes to the speed sensor buffer ( a small green box about 1" x 2" x 3" directly above the foot feed pedal. There are 2 connectors on one end of this box, 1 for the led optic sensor 3 wires red, green & black. I'm not remembering the other connector wires, however they supply voltage, ground & outputs for the computer & the cruise control.

argh

thank you for your reply.
that sounds right. My cruise control is not working. I have the Buick service manual, but it is not much help. Mabye someone who has their dash apart can post a picture. 8-)

anybody know what plugs in to the "other end" of the vss? That little green box behind the instrument cluster. One end goes to the cluster, the other end goes where?

I am getting a code 24.

Well, my cruise control is now working, and my code 24 is gone...

For those of you that would like to know, the wires that plug in to the other end of the VSS are:

Black Molex
RED wire - Cruise Control

white molex
pink with black stripe - power
brown - ECM
black with white stripe - ground
