intake/Carb Question ???????????

OKay you all Rookie question again.

I just bought a 4.1 Alum.intake for my 3.8L V-6 off Ebay.
It comes with a Q-jet and it cost me $125.00 including S & H.

Should I have this intake polished and ported?
I will get it bead blasted ,Magnuflux'd and cleaned up but would it improve the preformance to have anything eles done to it?

On the Carb.
Is it worth re-building since I dont know the condition of it.
Pre-owner say it has been sitting for 6 months and the gaskets need replacing.
Or should I just go and buy a new one?

Hi Jim,

For your carb. You should rebuilt it. It's not that hard but it will take some of your precious time. Go to your local parts dealer to find the Haynes 's Rochester Carburetor Manual. That will help you....

In the case of your intake, you will only see difference in porting it if you port match you heads too ! So port your heads, polish them and do so with your intake......have great time doing this. It will wake up your engine. It worth the $125.
