Intake Gesket Install

Do people here use the little rubber pieces that go at the front and the back between the intake and the block. On small block chevs you always throw the rubber bits away and use silicone. What's the deal on Buicks.

Also what do people consider to be thread sealer? Something besides silcone RTV?

If you are refering to the Fel Pro replacement gasket kit, the black rubber strips work great. If they are anyother brand or made of any other material i wouldnt trust them.
