searching for threads on porting and polishing the stock intake and aluminum heads leads to older posts that no longer have pics. posting pics of my project to regenerate the info and there are plenty of people more knowlegeable than me on this forum who can provide advice to the community. progress updates from me will be slow. I also used McMaster-Carr threaded inserts to fix stock helicoils that ripped out -> remove failed, stock helicoils, drill new hole, tap appropriate threads for insert, install insert - easy job with a mill or drill press
started with stock intake: milled out EGR tower and a friend closed the hole with TIG - still have polishing to do...
Stock ports are much narrower than gasket
Gasket matched the runners after align pinned intake to heads on my 9.800" decked block. Most of the material removed from flange area of port, because casting seems to get thin moving into the runner. Polishing with rolls is next.
