I have a vacuum leak coming from the intake manifold on the driver’s side next to the valve cover which is causing my idle to be very unsteady. Would anyone be able to give me a detailed explanation on how to perform this repair and what tools I would need?

gasket

Well if you are 100% sure it is the intake mainfold gasket it is pretty simple fix -first is you will have to drain coolant then remove the intake manifold and the valley pan gasket and then you clean the heads ,intake manifold and the old gasket (both mating surfaces)if you are going to reuse it (I always do ) ,,Then get some oxygen sensor friendly rtv and goop up your ports carefully not to ovedo and also put a dab of it on the ends of the rubber gasket on the front and the rear of the engine wait about 15 min and then drop the manifold in place and that should do it ..

i sprayed engine cleaner where the intake manifold meets the valve covers because thats where it sounded like it was coming from and it was getting sucked in to the intake manifold. im going to be replacing the valve cover gaskets as well beacuse they are starting to look pretty bad.
