I have a really dumb question, but I've never done it before, so I would rather ask before attempt.

I need to replace my IC silicone hoses. How do I get them off? I removed the clamps from them, and slid them all away. The up-pipe is easy. My problem is the hose between the compressor outlet and the intercooler neck. I cant move either the turbo or the IC, so what do I do? Unbolt and loosen the IC somehow, to move it and pull the hose off?

You are correct. Loosen the bolts to the IC. I would NOT unbolt the IC if you can help it. The alignment of the IC can be a pain in the a$$!!!! So if you can get away with just loosing it, I would try that first, then unbolt only if you have to.

Matt,

My old ones on the intercooler side were a bitch to get off as well. What i did, a razor blade and i cut the old ones off. The new ones will fit real tight, take some liquid wrench and spray a little on the inside of the new intercooler hose, they should slid on easy. :)

Ok. Which bolts to I loosen? Can you describe their locations? And once its loose, should I worry about bumping the thing out of alignment? Or will I just be loosening it and tipping it forward?

Thanks guys.

when reinstalling them put alittle hand cleaner the kind with the lanolin in it and it will help you slide it on and when it comes time to remove it will also be much easier to come off-i also use this method on all radiator hoses-works like a charm.

There are 2 brackets. The driver's side has 1 bolt - access from the engine compartment. The passenger's side has 3 - access 2 from the engine compartment and 1 from underneath the vehicle. The bolts have 10 MM heads. Use a small combination wrench (open end and 6 sided box) and/or a 1/4" drive, fine tooth rachet with a short, 6 point socket.

Taking the I/C loose is no big deal. Removing it altogether and replacing it with a front mount is even better. :D

So far as alignment goes, that's about a myth - there isn't a whole lot of freedom to move the thing around once everything is bolted up - unless you want to do a lot of bending and shimming. The alignment of the turbo to the I/C is the most important thing, and that's mainly a function of "clocking" the turbo.

If you do lubricate the hoses to get them on (I use a little WD-40) don't overdo it and best to take it easy for a while until they "set up".

Good luck!!!

:D

If I remember right, there are two blots on the passenger side, one on the driver side and one on the bottom. So I was wrong, you take out one on the passenger side and the one on the bottom. You then loosen the one that is left on the passenger side and the driver side bolts. As for which one to take out on the passenger side, I forget if it is the top one or the bottom one. Take the one out that is less horizontal to the bolt on the driver side. After doing this, you should be able to pivot the intercooler. njturbo was right with lubricating the hose to slip it on!!! In the pass I have used dishwater soap and it worked well.

hahaha, it looks like you guys beat me to it. How to do it has all been told. Such a slow damn typer, :).

Thanks guys. You've all been helpful. If I have any problems I'll just... throw a temper tantrum and scream and cry. :D

But I think I should be able to handle it.
