Well, Since Im going to have to make them for my project and I am going to take off of school next semester, I am thinking about producing a new product to supplement my income. I tried working last semester while being in school and it just does not work... I am a monster truck show announcer so Im on the road wednesday night-sunday.

I am going to be building a set of manifolds for my twin turbo LSX swap, and I am looking at producing them to supplement my income while im not in school. They will be HEAVY 304 stainless. I am thinking about just producing a "hot side" kit.

Now My goals are to keep all creature comforts including power steering and A/C... that is why I am making my own. These will more than likely require relocating the battery to the trunk though.

These will NOT be a tube style header, but more of an "advanced" log design made from THICK material with THICK flanges. I will also more than likely build a single LSX style kit for those looking to go with a single, and My goals would be to keep all creature comforts for those as well. Since there are so many variables in how people chose to do their intake, there really is no point in me offering a complete kit, but Im sure it could be done as well.

So what would you guys think about something like this? What would you guys be interested in?

Cool. Make a set up and show em to us. I am thinking about doing a turbo lsX because this v6 garbage is not cutting it for me.

thick material absorbs heat that could could of gone to the turbo.making this a log just makes it worse.

stupid comment, they insulate providing higher heat to the turbo.
3/8 flanges will be sufficient, and use schedule 10 304 stainless. Im sure you saw the pics of mine and it was pretty easy to do. having a good notching setup for the primaries is the key here.
also i would suggest getting some measurements from a f-body and making them just to the front of the motor and putting v-bands there. There is a HUGE market for the manifolds only going above the heater hose area next to the tensioner. I wouldnt bother with a full kit, any local shop can make a crossover and stuff if you provide good flanged manifolds for them.

No thanks.

Apparently your v6 Buick is ungodly fast or you have never been in a turbo lsX car before.

ive been in a turbo lsx car many times and yes the power is very good....but honestly why ruin a perfectly turbo buick why not just buy a regular gangster regal and drop it in there....

Swapping an engine in and out of a car does not ruin it. I still have my 3.8 original block in my garage...

Why would someone do a turbo lsx though? Because you can make the same power and run the same times with a third the boost pressure and it will live longer and be cheaper in the long run than going balls out on a v6

i suggest u go educate yourself on thermodynamics and physics.

In theory, I see your point. In application, the thicker materials work better. Thicker material resists cracking MUCH better. Once the manifold reaches peak temps, the thickness will help maintain the exhaust heat. It only takes a few seconds to reach peak temps. Ever see how red a manifold is under high boost?

The factory truck manifolds on an LSX have achived over 1,000 hp completely stock, by the way. (cast iron) Above 1,000 HP I would think that most guys would want "tuned" headers out of 321 at a minimum or even inconel. Nelson performance has such headers, at a STEEEEP price. Schedule 40 seems to work pretty well, though, the sizes are limited. Inside diameter usually has to be compromised when using schedule 40. The price of stainless schedule 40 is very reasonable, too. It is also very weldable, but to do the job right, be sure to back purge the welds.

Have you surfed ls1tech.com? Post your headers over there. Lots of guys on there that want an affordable system. Check out this site, too. » Turbo Systems > Turbo Technology Inc. This is the kind of stuff you will be competing with. Turbo Tech has been building great stuff for MANY years. If you can build a "advanced" log header for cheap, then you might actually make some money. It's a HARD business to be in, for sure. The first time someone drops your manifold on the cement floor, and it cracks, they will post a million negative comments about how crappy your stuff is. (Jerks! I tell you! Just be ready. )
Good luck with your project, and I hope you are successful. Just don't try to make more than $249,000.......I wouldn't want you to have to pay all those HUGE taxes.;) :D Just my two cents.
