did a search on meth the other day and found this tidbit in the reading,

"One of the drawbacks of methanol as a fuel is its corrosivity to some metals, including aluminium. Methanol, although only a weak acid, attacks the oxide coating that normally protects the aluminium from corrosion:

6CH3OH + 2Al → 2Al3+ + 6CH3O− + 3H2

The resulting methoxide salts are soluble in methanol, so the corrosion continues until the metal is eaten away."

anbody ever see this kinda corrosion after tearing down a engine ijecting meth?

meth

these engines dont last long enough for corrosion to occur :o

lol yea I was gonna say.. long before corrosion can happen something will blow up on em!

It is corrosive *as a liquid*. If you soak aluminum in methanol, it will eat it but misting a little into an intake manifold is fine
