INTERCOOLER

How is goin Hot Air Brothers?:D I Have been working on my wifes 1987 Turbo T,I got to say this car has POWER:eek: I made my own 3inch cold air induction, about to get Mickey Ts,also a 92 thrasher&108 lockup thrasher, and the best yet a TE-44:)

Anyway can i bolt on a stock '86-'87 intercooler to my '85 GN?
When I was working on the '87,I noticed that if i get a intercooler it would drop in?Would it be easy to convert my '85 to look like '87
If i could find a cheap '86-'87 motor would it be feasible to put intake-exhaust-turbo-etc-on my '85 block? Can I just use the intercooler?

Or would it be easier and cheaper to buy, install spearco kit?How much power would I get and would I FEEL a differance?I want my Hot Air to pull like my wifes car!Im sure I can get this car to run!

I thought about doing the same thing, till I relized the number of things that you had to convert. I think the easiest way is to go with the turbomotion setup. Not extremly costly and by far the best way to i/c.

turbomotion VS spearco

How do I get in touch with Turbomotion? How much is their kit? What does it consist off?How much is it?I tried to look up Turbomotion and found nothing.I was looking at spearco unit and it has a somewhat reasonable price, but I dont like those long tubes for spearco unit they look very inefficient.

What kind of power does the Turbomotion kit provide?Does anyone have a phone# for Turbomotion?Im full of questions;) How hard is it to bolt-on?

If I were you I'd hurry up and switch cars with the wife before it's too late. That would be the quickest and cheapest way for you to upgrade to IC:D

I want my intercooler

She lets me work on it:rolleyes: I really want to intercool my '85 or Im just gonna sell it and look for a'86-'87.I would love to find a vinyl roof non T-top with column shift, any color  The '85 is pretty snappy now, come to think of it I have a 1985 regal limited that I got for $500.00,no motor or tranny the car has a little scratch from snow plow, thats it,I was thinking of putting a intercooled motor in that but I think that would be a money pit:D
I need a phone# for Turbomotion is it 941-228-3136?

I paid 850 bucks for mine. But I supplied my own i/c and piping. I got the intake, throttle body, throttle cable and bracket, vacuum block and thermostat housing. If you go with the complete kit it will have a modded 87 i/c and the piping for it. You can also pay for the manderal bent pipe but it is extra. I believe the the basic kit is around 1300 but don't quote me. I would give Jay a call and leave a message. He has had alot of health problems this year and is in and out of the shop. I can tell you the the quality of his work is excellent. I was very impressed with the intake. The intake is a big bonus cause our stock ones are very restricted. Jay's flows almost double of a stocker. If I had to guess. I would say that you are increasing your hp by at least 75 horse. I put a ford i/c in mine. The first time I drove it I almost **** my pants. I was a big difference.
Hope this helps.

Hey turbowrenchhead- any pics of the i/c set-up in your car?

I didn't take any pics yet. I have the car in storage right now. As soon as I get it out I will get some of it. I regret that I didn't take any when I was putting the i/c in. It was quite a project.

The Ford unit is about the best bang for the buck as long as you're a do it yourselfer and you don't mind cutting on the car a little. I bought mine for $270, paid $30 for mandrel bent 3" plumbing and about $100 for silicone hoses and T-clamps. Don't be afraid of the long plumbing, it doesn't affect lag or anything. Basically, you rotate the compressor housing so it faces forward, make or buy some kind of an elbow adaptor for the back of the intake, and stick whatever intercooer in between the two you want.

It's still using the stock crank, rods, and heads so it's stock. :) Wait until it's back together with the much bigger turbo and external wastegate mounted up top. I won't be popping my hood anymore at the streetraces.
