Is a new pump recommended when installing a PTS 9X11?

I am ready to go with Bruce's converter, shift kit and pan, but I have a question:

Is it necessary for me to purchase a new pump from Bruce along with the converter? A couple people recommended it but I'm on a bit of a budget this year and am wondering if it is ok to stick with the stocker that hasn't been gone over.

I'm not a transmission expert (obviously ), and could use a little help.
