Is it o.k. to put an alky injection kit on a car that has 87,000 miles on the motor? I only plan to run about 23 lbs of boost. If the compression check on all cylinders is good, it should be o.k. right? What else should I check before doing it. I ran the car on 104 unleaded and it ran great with no problems if that means anything. I don't want to build a new motor yet. Thanks, Tim

Mileage is subjective to how 'hard' those miles were. Basically, before doing any kind of racing or power increasing, you want to check the entire setup - fuel pumps, injs, regulator, ign modules, sensors, wiring, etc... This 'checklist' should become somewhat of a routine if you plan on driving it harder or getting more power out of it.

As far as the 87k deal, we've put kits on cars with over twice that mileage with no issues - again you just have to check and be sure everything is sound. This is not just because of the alky setup.

:)

It does depend on how well the engine was treated, but I started spraying denatured with one of the "other" kits when my engine was around 125-130k miles. Then around 148k I switched to Razors kit using methanol. Don't know about it being safe for the engine, but I can tell you it's pretty bad on the transmissions:eek: . I now have nearly 154k miles on the engine. At around 145k I replaced valve springs and timing chain, the timing chain was in dire need of replacement. I've been running as much as 28# of boost with it, leaks a little oil, but still runs GREAT. I doubt if I'm making any more power at 28#'s than possibly at 25#'s, but I haven't been to the strip lately for any "tuning". Your vacuum/boost lines need to be in excellent condition also, as you don't want a line to blow at 23# of boost and go lean.

In addition to having good vacuum lines...I would ziptie ALL your vacuum lines!

And have good T bolt clamps for the turbo/intercooler pipes.
