I see where a wiring kit is offered for the the twin fan set up. Is this a plug in deal. I read a post about changing wires around.?

What is needed to plug and play?

Mine was plug and play, fits tight on the radiator plugs in and comes on at 165.

Thanks, I am going to purchas the fans Monday. I would like to have a set up like you are talking about. If you don't mind, e-mail the pics. and a list of parts I need.

Thanks,
CT

FWIW I used the plug from Ramchargers, and my car now runs cooler than it has ever ran before (runs 20-30 degrees lower). It is 110 degrees here during the day!!!

Chris, yes the fans do both run on high when they are on, but I already had the stock fan doing the same. I like to cool my car down as much as possible.

Chris, order the fans from RamChargers with the wiring harness and order the factory plug in pig tail from "Caspers" (fan side) and I'll walk you through the whole procedure to install this set-up.

You might want to write this up and submit it to the gnttype.org site. I'm interested as well and don't want to bother you to write it or send it out again.

Is everyone talking about the same adaptor harness? Part 674002 is relatively new to their web site and the description seems to indicate that it is plug and play:

"This adaptor harness will allow our
674001 fan to be pluggeddirectly into
the stock Turbo Buick wiring
harness. This will allow the factory
computer to control the fan on and off
like Buick intended."

Added later:
I think I see the confusion. There is a fan and wiring harness together (674003) and that harness has the switch, etc. I believe that it is generic or maybe F-body oriented. It is also $140. You can get 674001 (fan) and 674002 (Buick harness adaptor) for $103 which hopefully is plug and play, but doesn't include a switch for manual operation.

The fan and adapter that tminer listed make it plug and play so that both fans run on high whenever the ecm commands the fans to turn on. However, the stock high speed options are lost (delay relay, ac line pressure, and overtemp switch on the manifold) because if you look at the adapter ramchargers only uses two of the three pins. If you add the middle pin and two wires from that pin, one to each of the red wires on the end pin, the fan will also run off the high speed relays. That's nice because the fan switch that most guys add for staging lane cooldown is tapped into the overtemp switch and does not function with the ramchargers setup. Yes, this mod makes the fans run on high speed whenever they are on, but is much simpler than the extra diodes and relays to get true high/low speed operation. Oh, don't ask me where to get the pin - I've been told it's very hard to find. My plan when my stock fan eventually dies and I install the ramcharger fan now gathering dust in the garage is the steal a pin from the stock fan :D. Finally, electrically they are plug and play, but you have to fabricate mounting tabs to get them installed. Use some 1" x 1/8" flatbar in your favorite flavor (aluminum, galvanized steel, old rusty iron, whatever ;)), drill holes in the shroud, and use the flatbar to connect the hole with the stock mounting studs. About 3-5" per mount, if I recall correctly, or 1 to 2 feet total? Also, the mount tabs on the sides are not needed so most guys cut them off for extra clearance. Try to get the shroud to wedge in between the end tanks for maximum rigidity and to minimize the air leakage, or stand it off and use some weatherstripping or edging if you like. I think The Source is going to do an article on all this in the next issue, if you want pictures.

I have installed mine the way Gene said to and it fits great. It is a plug and play unit, but living here in louisiana I prefer to modify the wiring the way that he has his set up.
Just waiting for the wiring instructions now. I appreciate all of your help Gene.
