Is there a preferred SHIFT KIT for our transmissions, or are these like the Syclone trannies ... where you just get a stock rebuild , but replace the known weak parts with stronger stuff?

What are the known weak parts?

Is there a list of parts to make sure DONT get replaced if you take the tranny to a shop (that are TTA specific)? Thanks :) ---

CK Performance shift kit, billet servo, and hard parts. Great service and pricing. Whether stock or modified you won't be disappointed. One of the best investments I've made yet :). Call Chris and he'll go over your specific build and the parts needed even if you have a local tranny guy do the labor. Just be careful who you have open it up!

Dont let them touch the valvebody. If they put another valvebody on from a non-turbo 2004r.. you'll be the most miserable person in the world.

The TAF/BRF valvebody is specific to the 3.8 turbo setup.

Aside from that buy what hard parts you can afford. Input shafts, drum, stator, clutches, planets if you can afford it.. The main issue is the pump, and setting up the clearances. Most shops overlook the pump.. or try to re-invent the wheel. If they screw up on the pump you'll be flaring on the shifts and smoke the tranny.

Stay with a Buick trans guy on this. You'll be a lot happier, even if you have to put the trans on a pallet and ship it away somewhere.

Give me a call anytime. I will be more than happy to discuss this with you. PM Sent.

AWESOME replies guys, I feel a lot better already about doing this someday.

Getting the parts and having a local guy do it for me sounds like a good plan ---

A stock BRF trans with only the latest CK shift kit can work really well. My experience has been +500HP on a stocker with a CK shift kit, pan spacer with a 700 filter, and good synthetic fluid. That trans has been great. I wouldn't use a multidisc lock-up converter with it, locking it at WOT would probably break it.

The beauty of the CK kit is the "no nonsense" 2-3 upshift due to removal of the 3-2 control valve from the hydraulic circuit. Works great.
