Yes, but need to be careful. If you short A&B together on the ALDL connector, do a key-on, engine-off, the ECM will continuously step the IAC closed. This is extending the pintle until it hits the orifice.

If the IAC is removed from the TB while doing this, the pintle will be extended to the point that it leaves the IAC. To install the pintle, reverse the location of the two like colored wires in the IAC connector (swap the two blue wires or the two green wires locations) This will cause the IAC to step in reverse. Be sure to change the wires back before starting the engine.

While the pintle is out it is easy enough to clean it and place a light coat of thin grease on it.

Another test is to measure the resistance of the coils. The two blue wires go to one coil, with the two green wires going to the other coil.
