14 closing in the Chicagoland area, sucks to say the least all those jobs!

The one by me is closing... can't say I'm sorry though. Used to work there when I was in high school! Good Riddens! Fond memories but they should've been closed up long ago for lots of reasons!

The one I work for escaped the axe but several close to us (that we had good standing relationships with) are lost. It won't necessarily kill them though. Some have multiple franchises and a few others will pick up a new franchise, presumably foreign. Friend of mine is a service writer for Jim Clark in Lawrence, and they got cut. He doubts that he will have a job after june 9. Should be noted that it is not final yet. One or two may be added or removed from "the list".

Rumor has it GM will announce its cuts tomorrow. We also have GMC so we got all them fingers crossed! They are cutting a greater percentage than chrysler. We thought the process overall was kind of "cold shoulder" but what do we know? They sent everyone a certified letter regardless of whether or not you get cut, and the list was public before half of us got the letters (us included). NO ONE knew before today, and in 3 weeks the cut ones are completely cut off with no returning of any inventory, parts, or special tools. I wonder how many trucks are going to be "parked" through the front of their headquarters......

Nine are closing in OR. My best friend is manager of the body shop at a dealership but they have avoided the axe. Probably because they're five star with good sales. GM needs to do the same. Restructure and live to fight another day!

Glad you made the cut Bob! I can't believe Matteson's made it as well in Phillipsburg. I saw Gary Hardy in Holton on the list and couldn't belive that one.

Sorry to all the lost jobs!

Mines Axed

Stillwater, OK...at least they did it classy like Ups letter and all:rolleyes: We have been here half a century and always in good standing.

Gary hardy had closed its doors a couple months ago due to slacking sales, so the list just made it official. Were it not for that, we may not have made it. Crazy thing is, they don't tell you why or how close you were. Basically a yes or a no.

I had heard matteson's were closing anyway. Is this not true?
