Hardly fair; the 1959 Chevrolet had an X frame. You can say; this is how far Chevrolet has come.

Why not crash a 1959 Chrysler into a 2009 Chrysler; or even the 2009 Chevy?

Also, they said that the 09 driver would have hurt their knee, but the 59 driver would have died instantly. Did they take into account that the driver of the classic probably didn't have a seatbelt on, since they weren't standard back then, and the 09 driver had the advantage of having a airbags and shoulder straps.

The 59 did crush alot more than I expected, and I am sure that the newer cars do protect you MUCH better in an accident. I just think it is apples and oranges.

Notice the rust dust that comes from the Bel Air. Structual integrity comes to mind. The X frame, as found on 1958-64 Chevy full size cars, was not the sturdiest frame ever to be used; the ladder frames were better.

But yes clearly the Malibu has the safety features plus antilock 4 wheel discs as opposed to manual 4 wheel drums with single m.c. reservoir.
