... but finally my GN is painted!!!

Some of you probably remember my crash video. :(

Anyways, it's been a long road. Basically, I bought a 86GN parts car and used the front clip from it. My car had NO frame damage so I was very lucky.

My friend is a very good bodyman and helped me with the car. I've never done any work like this in my life. It makes me respect the amount of work that goes into a paint job.

I'll post a sequence of picture of the whole project when I get time, but I wanted to share my jubilation with everyone on this site.

Basically, the entire car was taken down to bare metal, and shot with Sikkens bc/cc. It has 3 coats of clear. The picture don't do justice, but like I said I'll get more later.

Car Before Accident (April on this year's calendar)

another one

Picture can't do justice and it's dirty from sanding and buffing. The only big change was the removal of the side moldings.

Special thanks to those members who donated parts like Lil6Steve who donated the driver's side fender. Ok, I guess only one donated part, but it does show the willingness to help!

Shameless Plug: Still parting out the 86 GN - front clip and most of the interior. Need to pay for cost of fixing my car.

Thanks,

James

I do remember that dumbass running over you. Sorry you had to go through that, but it's a lesson learned, and glad it seems to have worked out for you. Please post some more pics!

Congrats, James! I've shown that video of your crash to so many people at work! They all have the same initial reaction...."What was that dumbass in the Nova doing??"

I assume that you never heard any more from him, eh?

Car looks great!

James,
Wow, what an idiot! Where did that happen? What track? My 87 GN is almost ready and has also been in the shop for a long time (Aug '03). I'll swap pics with you when it's done. Watch out for those idiot chevys!;)

I just looked at that video the other day and was wondering about the progress of your car. Seems like you've really been working hard to get this car back up and running.

My car was in an accident several years ago, and I didn't have the paint taken down to bare due to costs and time, but now I'm kicking myself and eagerly awaiting when I can do it again and do it right.

Great job and thanks for keeping us posted.

Looks good! Glad Steve could help you out.

That track was Mobile. Never heard from the other driver to date. It will be a long time before I race the car again that's for sure. Too bad, because I enjoyed doing it. I just can't afford what happens :(

Speaking of which... is there racers insurance for the weekend racer?
