Story goes on a recent trip to visit family and attend my neices h.s. graduation in Phoenix, Az my 68 year old Mother rammed her vw Jetta while backing out of her garage into my blazer wrecking her trunk lid in the process, call it a senior moment but an accident none the less.

She bought the car new and managed to keep it in pretty good condition over 18 years, accident free etc so she was pretty bummed about it and also the fact my SUV is now just an sv as for the moment as I still can't open my tailgate lol!

As I was preparing to hit the road to head back home to Massachusetts I happened to vaguely remembere that Guy was in the reconditioning buisness in the Phoenix area so I sent him a message from the board asking only if he could recommend a place locally where we might find a trunk lid new used whatever.. Guy responded promptly explaining I had a couple options and to give him a call on his personal cell witch it did, after giving me a couple tips where to look he changes course and asks me for the VIN and a pic of the damage, didn't get it to him right away, as I'm half way across the country HE CALLS ME asking for the info lol, not that I had any reason to think he wasn't I'm now pretty damn confident this guy is legit.

Next day I get a text from him saying he sourced a used silver trunk lid and will be in his hands that week explaining when it does arrive he'll get it painted and prepped for install if we could just get the car down to him.. at this point I'm thinking this is all too easy and too good to be true there's gotta be a catch. Get a text few days later saying trunk lid ready for install, so on a Sunday morning I text him asking if it's ok to drop the car off and leavi it overnight, no go they are shut down like a bank on a Sunday, I decided then that instead of being the middle man to ask Guy if it was ok to give my Mom his cell he responded, as usual with no problem. They came up with a plan to get the car there for 9am Monday morning, I get a text from my mother Monday afternoon raving how nice and accomodating Guy was.

Nexd day (Tuesday) I get a text from Guy saying "your mom just picked up the car she seemed pretty happy", then a text from my mom with this pic

.. and a list of all the extras that Guy threw in

Remote trunk latch repair
Windshield chip repair
Car wash
Interior panel placement repair
Headlight reconditiong
Personal tour

The list goes on..

Finally the price, I wont post it here but suffice to say if he did this regularly he'd be out of business, C'MON MAN! Witch leads to my final point, Guy does not know me from a hole in the damn wall other than some sporadic random posts here on the board, yet he treated us both with as though we we're dignitaries bringing in a bugatti, never could of imagined a simple pm would turn into such an efffortless great experience.

Thank you very much Guy for your incredible service, to say you went far above and beyond would be an understatement!
You have a friend in New England for ANYTHING you may need out this way, anytime-Dan

Well, thank you! I have to give the credit for all of it to my team, they are a great bunch. They kept pointing stuff out and saying "You want me to fix this, too, boss? No problem."

Just doing a Buick brother a solid, nothing I would not do for most on this board, if needed. I truly believe Karma is a living thing. Thanks so much for the very kind words!

Did she get her battery issue worked out?

That first 105* day always wipes out thousands of batteries here in AZ every year.......... It ended at 112* here today, whew!

Please extend my gratitude to your employees as well, apparently the "battery" issue is put off until tomorrow, sounds like it could be something other than the battery however, thanks for asking

If I can help, let me know. We have a VW dealership in North Scottsdale, I'm friends with the GM and the Service Manager. I can get parts at cost and discounted shop rates, if nothing else.

If it turns out to be something we did, I'll make it right, of course.

what a great story and great guy, T GUY that is !!!!
outstanding !!!!
Agree, happen to catch the story of him giving up his pants and running around in his skibbies just so another guy could legally run his car at the track? Or how he refused a down pipe raffle prize at Bates because he did not "need" it, if I have those stories correct...

I'll keep that in mind if worse comes to worse thanks but honestly you've done too much already we'd prefer let you to focus on the buisness and pay the bills lol

I think Guy just wanted a date with your mom. :p

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

Neal

FWIW, Guy is a standup guy (no pun intended). I'm glad he could help you out.

A little bird told me your Mom had to replace the battery, positive cable and starter..........

The heat here tears cars up. Especially older ones. Glad to hear she got it squared away.

Sun Devil Auto treated her squarely. They have a shop local to me, too. Nothing but good reviews, except for the occasional idiot that will NEVER be satisfied.....

Gee, I've never seen one of those guys here...........:cautious:

:cool::cool:And, to bring a point home, it's easy to want to help nice people.........

Yer Ma' raised ya' right......... ;)

BTW
** Bite me, Neal, you old bastard!** I have a girlfriend, she lives in Canada, we met at summer camp 45 years ago........I would NEVER be unfaithful.:cool:

Here she is...... :D

My 19 year old flipped this over just a few miles from your shop. She's fine. But I may need a few scratches buffed out. I'll have her drop it off. Call me when it's done. We'll square up then.

Thank's bro.
