yes u do know me we meet at the dumba55 WRX club at the In and Out Burger which btw only 3 cars showed up, good thing i didn't drive my GN that day , i am the guy with the little black honda who pretty much got there and then left, i also offered you to buy my front 87gn grille, and you would not even spend $110.00 Now tell me who the cheap A55 is me or you, btw the grille sold to someone who would not pay 210 at kirbans and spend 100 less by going with mine, he was also very please and said it was like brand new, even with the little b u i c k letters in front of it which btw kirbans does not provide, i am not cheap i just dont believe in beating up my GN to be max for a bunch off morons pleasure, if they want to see how fast it is, let them encounter me on the street and try me once from light to light, and they will soon find themselves staring at my rear lights, but to go to the track pay 20.00 maybe get 1 run in and beat up on the car for a whole quarter mile run when we know most runs end in less than 3 to 4 blocks is not worth it, as i mentioned before my car is to beautiful and to clean to beat up on i rather keep it that way that parked in the garage because something is broken, kinda like where your car is, btw how is replacing the parts and the rebuilt going, also i hope you found someone to push you around on your wheelchair because if i remember you are going to have knee surgery the day prior to the event. good luck.

wow.....now ur sencond impression is out the door too.    K I get it you aren't coming, can you stop posting on my thread now. Thanks, and have a great day!

i live in san diego and want to come out to fontana. Is is far from me? I have and 89 tta with 20k miles and would like to see some buicks. There are like none in my area, or atlest none that i know of. Any info about directions or anyone in san diego with a buick v6 let me know. thanks a bunch\

flyc2a hey sweet! It will be a first for me to SEE an TTA run in the 1/4mile so hope to see you there!:)

FOR ALL WHO NEED DIRECTIONS

1.) www.californiaspeedway.com
2.) upper left hand side click on "maps"
3.) enter your home address, and wa la.

Its not that far from san diego, I d guess 2 hrs.

Reg, I forgot, are they nhra strict too? bar/cage? Cause my tta is way under the bar rule with no bar and its a ttop too.

The car is way illegal for nhra rules but it only has 52k miles and doesn t even have any real work to it other then a few bolt ons.
I ll probably eventually put a bar in but they want a cage now in a 10.99 car with t tops. And its not on the first page of things I have to get done anytime soon.

Yea they play by the rules. I have to dail my T Type in to run 12.00 or they throw me out.I don't have a bar in it and I don't plan on putting one in anytime soon.Sorry for all the rules but its better you know before you drive all the way down here just watch.

The first race of the year at Fontana is always a pooch-screw; I learned that last year which is why I didn't go this past weekend.

1320-- Tech Guy: "How fast is it?" Your reply: "Oh, it only goes 12's (add heavy sigh)..."

Mark--- provided Neal's car is (still) running after the Vegas deal he plans to attend in late January (see other topic), he indicated to me he's all for attending the Feb 7th date. I do not know about Jason; however, typically if Tim goes, Jason usually goes as they live in the same neighborhood. As for me, I did a quick inventory check over the weekend and my stockpile of VPC16 is 5 gallons less than I thought; luckily I will have time to get some before the 7th.

Wiked87GN-- I probably read your post wrong, but it looks to me that Mark is simply taking the lead and trying to get some of the guys together; maybe you could come out and support us instead of lumping us all together with "...a bunch of morons"? Heck, maybe bring the burgers and drinks while you're at it, as we'll be hungry! We all have nice cars, but we take 'em out anyway. After reading your sig, Lou's a good guy and he'd find it neat seeing his handiwork getting some exercise. If I interpret your last post correctly and the kind of racing you do, a one-tenth mile/3-4 block race on the street and/or dyno numbers doesn't necessarily equate to "MID 11's, AND GETTING FASTER", and we could always use another good-looking 11-sec GN in the posse to cement our reputation as "track bullies". My car has a new motor (the old one went 162,000 miles and sub 11.20s) and a whiz-bang collection of parts that is capable of high 10's, but I'm not calling it a 10-second car until I get that magic timeslip!
;)

I don t know why but at first I thought it would be like our events. We have street race type events all year long called midnight mayham, and its a registered/license you must drive it in type event, ussually from 10 pm till 2 am or later....and there ARE NO RULES.....you can take passengers etc.....as long as its street legal you can run....hence we even had guys in shorts/t shirts riding bikes into the 10's etc....all they had to wear was a helmet! I know passengers were going for rides in 10 sec cars...no helmets, no bars, no window nets etc.....pretty weird but it gets them off the street.

Fastest so far is a 9.13 @149 I think....it was a supra, he drove it out on bfg's and drove it home....I know cause I was behind em on the hiway....man it was fast.

Anyways, for some reason I wwas thinking it was that type of event.

I would suggest getting there at noon, I went Sat. the 10th and was in the first race group (they call you in groups of 50) and only got 3 runs in. There were close to 450 cars. Cars in group 200 and above only got 2 runs in. Kinda sucks for spending 10 hrs of the day there.

Shouldn't be that bad in Feb. though since this was the first event of the year.

Traction was ok, BTW elev. is 1121'

I wouldn't mind going again, but my 1st gear went bye bye after my 3rd run.

lets all put xxxdarksidexxx on the wheelchair, throw some VHT on the wheels and see what he will run in the 1/4. :D

Hmmm...it looks like you've changed your sig within the last couple of hours. As an alternative, you could try running the car at Irwindale; it's not as long a drive from Long Beach and you'd get more runs in being an 1/8th mile track 'n all. The last time I saw your car at Donut Derelicts it didn't have a rollbar, so if you told the Irwindale tech folks it runs 8's in the 1/8th you should be ok. I hear that track really hooks, so be sure to bring good tires!

no worries it is running under the 8's in the 1/8 mile and btw this car is never going to see a roll bar because i am not a freak with the now famous, (my GN is the fastest S*** in town) COMPLEX, i am very happy with the way it is, it may not run into the 10's or heck maybe not even low 11's but it is a very clean car fast enought to make me think twice about those WOT take offs, and so far it still being driven and in one piece unlike most GN's who are in garages because the owners dropped the pan and are picking up the pieces. i think i will pass on the whole drag racing thing and enjoy my car the way i should with the occasional from a roll race or a light to light battle and i bet that if i get traction almost anything on the streets will see my taillights, there is really no need to make my car another casualty of the 1/4 mile track blues, enought said. good luck to all of you at the track i will be installing my newly acquaried HRPARTSTUFF rear sway bar, if any of you like to see it I may show up at the track to show it but no racing for me. :)

If you run it at the 1/8th mile track and think that's okay for the car, what makes you think it'll be a 1/4 mile casualty?

Kevin,

I can understand your aprehension about not wanting to run your car at Fontana. It's a nice piece and I know you have a lot of money tied up in it like we all do. More than likely it is an 11 second car and with that said I know you don't have the safety equipment to run 11's. I also understand about not wanting to hurt the resale value of the car by adding a rollbar etc.

On the other side of things much info can be gathered from the passes made down the 1/4 mile that be very helpful from a tuning standpoint whether on the street or strip. I'm planning on coming out and I hope you can make it too. If you don't want to run that's OK. Sounds like there should be a good crowd of Buick guys to hang out with. It's always fun to catch up and see what everyone is up to, what their new mods are etc.

See ya there

Neal

Neil is that you? I beleive your car is a 10 second car? Ttype? If so, I have some video of you and can make a copy of it to bring to fontana with me.

Can't wait to see you there too! Thanks for posting.

I'd love to make it out there to break in the new motor:D
Its only Total Distance: 350.3 miles (563.6 km)
Estimated Time: 5 hours, 56 minutes from my house;)
And that I'd be out the valley for some R&R:cool:

Okay Neil Ill make a video of your runs, and do a lil editing and put it on a disc. Can't wait to see you there.

Whitettype86, that would be a nice drive to break in the motor. If you can make it, more power to you.

UPDATE!!!:)

Neil I have a video ready for you, and its only one run with Jason at Fontana on the 25 of Jan. 2003. Its on a CD and if you come on the 7th to Fontana I will be able to give it to you.
