Hey guys,

so here is my issue, my igintion key is jammed halfway inbetween off and Ignition in the steering column. It does however stay turn the power off, but it will not go back to the off position so i can actually take out the key.

Have any of you experienced this before and can anyone tell me what is causing this to happen?

I tried as hard as i could to twist it back to off, but it refuses to go.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian Karolko

Aftermarket shifter? If so, the lever on the collumn that your stock shifter used to hook to has probably dropped down.

What he means is grab the lower portion of the steering column and twist CCW. Then the key should turn back enough to remove. I have a clamshell column guard and I have to do this routinely. No big deal.

After doing that you may have to get underneath the car and adjust the rod linkage on the trans. Loosen the nut, push up on the rod and tighten the bolt.

Hmmmm okay sounds like a decent idea,

I have a aftermarket shifter BUT i have cut out the little arm off the steering column that basically acts as a nuetral safety switch, but there is no reason why i could have twisted the column a little at one point, because it worked perfectly, and then BAng it quit.

Any other thoughts?

Adrian

THE COLUMN BOWL ROTATED

reach behind the steering wheel and grab the jacket of the column by the dash and spin it counter clockwise

there is no good reason to delete the column linkage and lose the neutral start and backup lamps
most that do delete the linkage take a long zip tie and tie the column arm up so it cant fall and result in the problem you have described ,
since you say you cut the arm off youll have to find some way to prevent it from moving clockwise
