Was working on my pole barn yesterday and felt a lot of pain in my back on both sides just below my ribcage where my kidneys are. sat down for 30 minutes and everything was alright. I ignored it because it went away.

Woke up today and drank 2 cups of coffee and man talk about pain!! It went away after a while so I had 1 more cup. Big mistake!! For the next 5 hours I felt the most excrutiating pain I have ever felt in my life. I was also home alone and could not drive myself to the hospital. I had to have an ambulance take me.
It sucked. On top of the pain I was throwing up and then I would get hot and cold and start all over again. Not to mention the blood in my urine. Don't ask why I waited for 5 hours. I guess I thought I was a tough guy.

Doctor said that pain was nothing compared to what I will feel when I actually pass the stones. I can hardly wait. He gave me some pain medication and a strainer to urinate in to catch the stone. He said that a lot of people come into the emergency room in tears because it is so painful.

Anyone else here been through this?

It sucks.

Everyone should be able to hear it when I pass it!

Thanks. Yes, I missed that thread. I really don't want to be in this club but I have no choice.

From what I have read, it must be the tea. I do not drink sodas. Except occasionally with a meal.

I just want it to be over. Lots of good info in that thread. I appreciate it.

THX

hay tc i guess you and me are going through the same thing :(
i've been trying to pass the stones for two days now and i passed one yesturday and another one today and man i tell you what a relief, and depending on the size of the stone you will be in alot of pain, i have been with this kidney stone issue for at least 1yr now:mad: , doctors have exam'ed the stone but the only thing they do is change my medication, drink lots of water, i know people will say take this or that but at the e.r. i was told water clear liquids, if your like me it's hard for me to drink water alone, i usually mix half sprite-half water it's not that bad, after you get used to it:D , btw what pain meds did they give you ?
ketorolac works great, they usually try to give you some percoset  , tell the no-no the ketorolac works way better
well hope this helps and you feel better, let e know if you have any questions, these things suck but your not alone bud:D

The ER told me the exact same thing that they told you. They gave me a shot that took about 30 to 45 minutes to take the pain away and prescribed the exact same pills. ketrolac. The only thing different that they gave me was an antibiotic called Cipro.

They told me that this was not the end of my treatment and to follow up with my doctor on Monday. At first I thought they gave me something that wasn't strong enough but I see that you got the same thing so I feel a little better about what they gave me.

I just want it to be over

believe me i know what you mean, good to see they did give you the good stuff, but i tell ya when it gets real bad you might need 2 pills ( i bet they gave you the 5 mg and not 7.5 or 10:) ) but they are good, also don't put anything tight around the kidney or waist area, but i got a feeling you already know that;) cipro?
if it burns when you urinate use a pill called azo it works great for those types of pain, you can pick it up at walgreens or any drug store. good luck bud :)

TC... you want real pain get the little bugger stuck right at the end of it's "journey" . That, my friend is the most helpless feeling in the world, so drink LOTS of water . Good luck!

OUCH! That hurts just thinking about it!

I am drinking plenty of water! And even more after that warning!

Guess you missed this recent thread. You are now a member of our little club!

Hey Mark did your insurance co finally step up and pay that claim? I had to go to a urologist for a related problem, and they did a sonogram on me and he mentioned I had a small kidney stone that "may try to pass one day". This was 4 or 5 yrs ago, and I get some suspect sharp pains in that area from time to time, but thats about it. I couldnt have passed it without knowing it could I? Or is it just sitting there growing:eek: How long can they do that, and does anybody know what makes them go ahead and pass?

When I was told to drink lots of liquids, my Dr. said beer was OK! :D

I'm still waiting. No more blood or pain.

trust me bud it will come back, i hate to tell you but it's happening to me also, all that means is that the stone is not moving anymore but it's still there. you'll notice next time it starts to move you'll have like a purple-ish ( looks different than blood) type of urine, the stone is still there and until you do some thing to make it start moving again it'll most likely not bother you for a couple of months if your lucky
