five months ago , i had aknock gauge installed but, whenever i shut the engine off then turn the ignition on i would have no light indication on the gauge at all. so i started the engine a couple of times(off & on), and still i had no lite or indication.:( sometimes when i start the engine the audible warning sound will go off. i know this is normal for what i read on this board.(false knock) what do you think guys?loose wires?should i open the driver side dash and follow the wire from the gauge going through the ecm,i found a red wire from the line which is plugged in to the ign. in the fuse box, is that red wire suppose to be there?.......help me please!
thanx.....arsenio

Red wire sounds correct.

Now what about the black ground wire? Is it on a good ground point metal?

Audible alert sounds like it works as good as mine, only when you start the car....

salvage v6--- all the wires are wrapped up by electrical tape and theres a connection between the ecm and the gauge. the connection are good and tight. i cant tell if the black wire are properly grounded somewhere.how many wires do you think that came from the gauge, what color?beside the red wire.----thank so much for the reply.-------turboculosis.

That would depend on whos gauge it was? Where did you buy it?

Most likely a black wire would be ground and perhaps a yellow one to the ECM. Just guessing here of course.

Gauge needs to be grounded to work right.

I assume you used to get a green light on all the time with it to let you know it was powered on???

Then there would be other indicator lights for KR also. Right?

salvage v6----- its a casper electrronics. i will unwrapped the electrical tape to find the black wire where it leads to. thanks again salvagev6---

You are welcome. I would try an email to John Spina at Caspers and he could help you for sure.

I do have one of his gauges and have the instructions somewhere I can look up also for ya!

Trace the wires out and see where they go. :)

salvagev6,i spoke to one of the guys in casper,i think its john who answered. he told me to bring down the pod and check the back of other gauge & see if the black wire or some other wires are loose.but unfortunately i cannot take it down b/c i dont know how. i thought it was a screw but it has four little pads on both corners.i try to snap it but im afraid i might break somethig else.:( i dropped by rons auto custom in kenilworth, but paul was very busy.i told him the whole story,he told me the person who installed it did it wrong. all the wires coming from the gauge was suppose to go to the ecm toget an accurate reading, but casper told me the red wire was right {plug in to fuse box} salvagev6, i think i will just call john in casper to send me one(instructions) by fax. if you find yours could you fax it to me:D if you didnt find yours it ok,---fax#1-732-452-6312 thanks so much for time salvagev6------
