lacking power

i just got my 84 gn from the shop and the car still lacks power and has a little ping at full trottle. my mechanic said i could have the wrong chip for my combo. i have 37lb injectors, adj regulator, red armstrong xp pump(hotwired), high output coil pack, 7 position ultra chip for these injectors. but i have the stock air box. using a tomco maf that is for 84-87. should i also invest on a turbo link?

YOu definately need to borrow a fuel pressure guage , and also get your hands on a boost guage.

I think you should get both guages installed before you return , making a thread called "how hard is it to replace headgaskets" lol

Make sure the Fuel pressure rises 1 pound per every pound of boost you are running...
whats your FP set at?
Just cuz you have a new pump and regulator doesnt mean your Fp is rising, so borrow the guage and make sure it is

make sure your fuel filter isnt plugged or on upside down.
what plugs are you running? how are the gapped?
whats the highest octane gas you can get where you live?

No "ping" is good and i'd keep my foot off the pedal until you have soemthing to monitor your car, like a scanmaster

I agree with everything. Also, I notice that caspers "ultrachip" tends to ping in the performance settings cause it advances the timing so much. They are an ok chip for everyday messing around. But if you want something tuned to your full combo, they have a few good chip burners out there such as Jim Testa

hey ninja vey true thanx to ur very helpful tips n buick pictures off the engine compartment i installed my boost gauge easily i was wondering if u have any tips ir instrcutions on where and how to install a fuel pressure gauge?
Also u asked loza what kinda sprks plugs n gap he was runnin and that got me thinkin what kind of spark plugs and gap is good or u recommend ?

thanks for the replies guys but unfortunately i got sideswiped on the 3rd of august and my 84 gn is now in the body shop ill let u guys know when i get my turbo link and fuel gauge.
