Anybody ever do one?

It looks like the quarter windows have to come out... like it's tucked behind them.

What about the rear window? What's holding it on back there?

Are the roofs usually finished pretty well under there if I decide to go topless?

I know some of my older Buicks the roof was pretty bad when they were going to put a vinyl top on it.

had mine replaced a few years back wasnt hta difficult. quater windows need to come out and the rear window trim comes off and its glued down. there was some pitting in the surface under the top, mine was a dealer installed version. hth

Hi,
Mine is also in need of some repair,has the 1.5 inch aluminum decorative front strip. I think they did a crap job at the factory, because I got a peek at what it covers when I removed that strip.It doesn't look pretty. My car is a Texas original.I don't think there is rust, but apparently, the landau is a pretty big moisture trapper.Also,no prep was done under it. So,once the quarter windows are out,the landau will come off easy enough,once the back window trim is removed.An average upolstery shop should be able to handle the replacement, but you have to worry about trim reattachment and material quality.How about all those retaining pieces?

No they are not. They just slap some sealer on the seams at the factory and roll on. Painting a 87 rosewood here right now with the top stipped off of it. I smoothed it out some but there is a top going back on it after paint. To go topless it would take a lot more work to remove the rubber sealer they use and refill it . Daniel Ray
