<I originally posted this in the General Tech section, but just now noticed we have a Scantool section as well (learn something new everyday). I figured I'd duplicate it here where its a little more topical and the experts in the area might be able to chime in.>

Hey guys,

My car has been sitting idle for awhile, abut I finally got my butt in gear and it should be back on the road in the near future. When I first got it 4-5 years back, and started looking for a scantool, I didn't have a laptop, so I went with a scanmaster and didn't really research the options out there for laptop based systems.

Now however, I DO have a laptop, but while the car's been sitting I wasn't on the forums much, and between that and never really looking into the scantool options for laptops to begin with, I am sorely lacking on knowledge of whats out there. I seem to remember the names Turbo-Link, and Power-Logger... and Direct Scan rings a bell??

I don't know what the pros/cons of any of those are, or really anything about them. I tried searching here and on GNTType, but couldn;t come up with anything useful. If theres a good thread or article that already runs through a comparison of the options, please link to it and I'll be glad to do the reading, I just couldn't find it.

Price is definitely a consideration, considering i already have a scanmaster. It's probably enough for my needs (mostly stock hotair that is 99% street driven) but if there is a good option, having the ability to see more info, and log runs would be useful.

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it! I'm mainly looking for a comparison of the different options out there, comparing price, features, ease of use, etc. Thanks!
