Large text box

Why is it when I post in a thread, this tex box I'm typing in displays huge after posting, even though I only typed a short sentance.

Lotta wasted space in this box.

I guess nobody has any ideas on this. I have noticed some guys have smaller text boxes. There are different sizes. Wonder where that is controlled?
