Hey guys,

I went to the track a few weeks ago, and recorded some horrible 60 ft times. I think I know what I was doing wrong, but I am looking for clarification on how to launch it.

I was doing the normal tire cleaning deal then pre-staging and staging.....then trying to spool up. Should I just pre-stage first then ease the car into the staged lights?

Also, should I leave with the tries on the verge of spinning or less boost? I am still on street tires, but slicks are coming.

For a list of mods, search the last post made by me.

Thanks alot

Hold as much boost as the brakes will hold, Mash the gas and let go off the brake. Reduce the amount of boost until it hooks. If it never hook, get better tires.

Never leave at part throttle and try to pedal the car. The Throttle needs to be wide open for proper turbo operation and fueling.

With a sportsman tree don't worry too much about building boost at prestage. Pro tree or instant green is where thi is needed.

Thanks for the info.....I tried building boost at the staged light, but it seemed as though I did not have enough time to get it spooled up. The car was a dog off the line, then when the turbo came on, it pulled like hell. I think I may try to get it spooling at the prestage light then let her rip.....Most everybody that has seen or read my mods thinks it should run 11's.

This is my first turbo anything, and it is ALOT different than launching my LS1 SS.

Thanks, I'll keep you posted.

My best 60-ft was when I went full throttle when second light when off. By the time I released the foot brake boost was at about 12 to 14 psig which is at the max my brakes can hold. I had staged at 2 to 4 psig.

I have tried to go full throttle at the last yellow, but I am have not reached full launch boost when I launch.

I have tried to go full throttle earlier, but I start to spin rears and push through lights.

The first time I raced I was pulling 2.1 to 2.2s 60-ft times. I had to try different approaches to get down to 1.65s. All of the above was with stock turbo and BFG DR's.

I have only limited experience so I am still learning. I am in the process of changing from stock turbo to a larger turbo and slicks so I will have to learn all over again.

Each person I watch has to do it differently depending on their setup.

How much boost can you hold with the foot brake?? This will determine at what point you go full throttle and bring up the boost.

I use a slightly different angle.
I Prestage and bring the boost up to 0#, then bump it into the stage light. When My opponent has staged I bring it up to 4-5# of boost against the brake. I have a Shift light hooked up to a hobb's switch that come on at 4-5#. I watch for that in the corner of my Eye. And nail the trottle & foot off the brake when the 2nd yellow goes out. Leave at the same boost level with my car it runs very consistent.
