A friend of mine is looking to turbo his 3800 series gtp. He is going to custom fab everything, but I was wondering if our intake manifold would bolt up to his block? He thinks he is going to use a bunch of aftermarket TR parts for the conversion, but I honestly dont know anything about those cars so I figured I would ask here. We know ALL of the internals are different, but the intake is going to be a PITA to fab up unless a TR unit would bolt up.

They are both 3.8l V6 from the LD5 family, but Im not about to take off the intake manifold on my car so he can test fit it.

Well given that the heads are a different style anyways, I seriously doubt that the intake manifold with bolt up from the LC2 to the L67. I have both engines (a 00 Grand Prix GTP and an 87 Buick GN) so you would have to do waaayyyy to much modding to even come close to making them work..... but why would you? They already make like 2-3 bolt on turbo kits for the GTP that would end up being a whole lot cheaper than trying to fab one up!

Thanks, I will send him those links! He just bought the gtp after 4 years of having a twin turbo transam that he built everything for. Someone ran into him at a light, and he decided it was time for a "family" car since he just had a kid.

I remember seeing videos and reading about the kits they make for the Type II 3800 motor. I think they will get you into the 12's fairly easy.

I wonder how the transmisson, CV joints, and other things take the extra power the turbo gives.
