what i have done on engine removeal is i took my broom handle and propped the hood up with i. then i took the engine hosit in from the side. tring to use the engine hoist i have from the fron the car has to be jack up a few inches so the legs will clear under the lower control arms.
one thing that i have always done when removing a motor in a gn is i make the drivers side of the engine lift up a tad bit more than the pass side to make sure that it don't come up and hit the heater box assembly.
