I finally convinced my younger brother Joe to take his Factory Five Cobra kit car to Lebanon Valley to race my GN this Sunday. He calls me a little while ago and says he wants to even the field a little. I think he is going to put a little weight in his car to offset the huge weight disparity between his Cobra(2400lbs with him in it) and my 3900 lb loaded brick. But no, the little Bast%$# wants me to run street tires. I laughed at him. I tell him first of all I am running a stock 6 cyl engine with some bolt ons. My car weighs some 1500lbs more then his car and he also has some 275/55-17 tires with a 3.55 ratio. I have driven his car plenty of times and it pulls like nothing I have ever been in or on before. But launching it is a real problem. It's got a slightly built 302 with 300 hp at the wheel. It lights the tires up instantly. And it keeps on roasting them until you decide it's enough. Shifting it is also very slow with a 92 mustang 5 speed tranny. I think if I can get a great launch, I should be able to beat him pretty bad. My car hooks really good with the M/T drag radials and an air bag. Unfortunatley I just replaced my TT chip with an updated one and I have not tuned it at all. I took it to a show with my buddy last week and we were doing some on-ramp testing and noticed my O2's were at like 730 but no knock at all but the car seemed to sputter.. I immediately turned up my alky setting 1 spot and tried again. This time the O2 was about 780 and the car ripped. I really need to tune with the TT chip but I don't have any free time to do it. I will see if Brian(bison) or Kash can take the car for a few days and work their magic. Maybe tune it with a wideband to really dial it in. I honestly believe this car can do a low 11 with a great launch.Just to be safe maybe I should invest in some ET streets. I would really like to beat the Cobra and officially have the fastest car in the family!!! Bison/Kash call me when you read this-maybe Otto can be of service also. I will supply the bear. And maybe the entertainment.
Scrupples is just around the corner
