well i pulled my lifters out that were ticking, i found most have little chips in the bottom and the one is beveled or caved in? what does that mean i must have scrapped a gallon of sludge from the heads and lifter valley around the bad lifter. Should i swap the cam to or can i just do lifters? what type of cam should i go with?

In my limited experence, if the lifters show ware then the cam will as well. I'd say alot of your internal parts have ware concidering the sludge build up that you have.
 
i personally have the speed-pro or edlebrock 204-214 cam, havent run it yet, but heard great things!!! I also heard the comp cams 206/206, or is it 208? I heard that is a real good too!!!


If your lifters are concave, they are worn out... To check all of your lifters, there is an old trick with a piece of glass and a couple drops of oil... set the glass someplace where you can see underneath, drip some oil on it, and 1 at a time, put the bottom of the lifter in the oil flat on the glass...watch the oil... if it all pools toward the middle of the lifter, and doesnt get pushed out to the sides, the lifter is worn by the cam... if you have 1 or 2 lifters that are concave, it is time for a swap of all 12 and the cam as well... good time to upgrade!!!!

Lifters arent too expensive actually... I got my lifters and pushrods from a local bumpertobumper parts store in NJ all for under 100 I think... sealed power chromolly pushrods, and standard hyd lifters...
