Which is better? How hard are they to install, and which one gives a better bang for the buck? Thanks!

You are comparing Apples to Oranges. Line Locks as starting devices on a high performance TR are a misconception.

You use a line lock to hold the front tires still, and let the rear tires spin freely, during a burnout. You use a transbrake to hold the car still and to unload the chassis prior to launch. Most serious racers have both.

Where is the best place to buy them? Are they difficult to install? I'm kind of new to the racing scene. Thanks Scott.

for a linelock, try summit or somewhere like that. you have to splice your brake line, then bleed the brakes. electracally its very easy. ~$60

for a trans brake i think you need a new valve body, but i coudl be wrong i've never really looked into getting one.

Yes, line locks are commonly available from ANY speed shop.

Transbrakes for the 200-4R are now plentiful when you deal with TR-specific vendors. The cheapest and easiest-to-install option is the Stage-Right trannybrake ($120). However this is like revving the motor and doing a granny-drop. There are also a few electrically controlled units available from PTS, Extreme Automatics and CDK Performance...(not sure if I have the last name correct.) They are a few hundred dollars more, require professional installation and often require a deep tranny pan (more money).

Thanks for the replies. Mark Bowler will be putting in a Vigilante torque converter in about a week. I'll see what he knows about them.

Can a transbrake be used if the car isn't being shifted manually?
In other words, can I put the car in drive and expect the brake to work?
