I'm still old school with my TR as I have the original Delco AM/FM cassette in it. Like to record my fav CDs onto cassette for the TR.I'm having difficulty trying to locate and purchase the metal format blank cassette recording tapes such as the TDK MA110. Can anyone help out? Serching the 'net has been fruitless. TIA.

You might want to check in the 80's, the last time those were popular :D

Actually have you tried Radio Shack?

Kevin

I would check radio shack first.
If no luck, then you might want to try some of the online music recording places. I dont record any of my stuff on the tapes anymore, just zip disks and hard drives, but I know a lot of those places will probably carry them. The high end tapes are still used a lot for demo recordings, and there are still multi-track machines being sold that use them.

If I were you though, I would get a disc changer with an FM modulator, and go that route since you want to keep the factory radio.

Did you try J+R Music world out of NYC?

Bought from them in the past and had good luck.

I use the Maxell MXS 100 metal ones.

Metal rules!!!

By the way my Dragon has better frequency response on metal cassette than regular CD and much better than the crappy MP3 response. ;)

Not bad for the early 70's. :)

Rock on....

thanks David!

Never dealt with these other 2, they both list the 110...

Ordered up from carbausa as their shipping on a 10 pk of the TDK MA110 was only $4.95 vs $18.00 shipping on same from circuits2u! We're talking reg 'ol UPS ground too. BTW, what search engine did you use to find that resource? I sure didn't pull that one up when I was searching.

Salvagev6- how do the Maxell MXS 100's compare to these TDK MA110's?

Thanks everyone!

Can't help you out with the TDK vs. Maxell info. as I've never used the TDK.

Used Fuji metal in the very old days, 80's. ;)

Thanks Alan. The place I had ordered some from had sent an electronic receipt for order. After a couple of wks wiht no product arriving, I emailed them to check on status of order. They stated they no longer stock them and wouldn't have been able to accomodate? I will follow your leads locally and hope to find some. We have Media Play and Target.

Why would he want to do that?

Better spec.s on cassette, excepting wow and flutter. ;)

Huh? NOTHING is better about cassettes than CD. Want to hear a certain song? You press your FF button, I'll be jamming whilr you're waiting.

PLease..

Dood.

You know why they call them FM modulators?

Because you are broacasting in cheesy FM.

No frequency response and who knows what filtering, distortion etc. is added. And it assumes you have a decent FM radio.

A trunk changer hooked to the head unit is a good idea.

However my cassette deck has a wider response and makes better tapes than even CD's.

I make tapes so I don't have to hit the FF button like you do on CD's. :D

Well..... neither my Target or Media Play have these. Tried Radio Shack and a no got here and ebay has nothing either.

Acme Alan... sending you a PM on this hoping you may be able to help me out.
