location of paint code

trying to find paint code on my car i belive i found the correct placard under the hood as 79L or 79U(was not able to find this code for any paint color)any help is appreciated jim

According to http://www.gnttype.org/numbers/rpo.html it is 79U primary color,exterior, burgundy met, (91)
Look all the way at the bottom, under RPO Codes 543- 999

I believe it just means its a solid color car. The U is the upper color, L is the lower color. Look at this: http://www.gnttype.org/images/plateusa1.gif

Yes the letter L is for lower and the U is for upper. If it was a WH1 or two-tone those codes would have different numbers.
