Lock up issues

I just installed a fresh trans today and it seems to have a lock-up problem. The car will not lock the converter under 55 mph and will also engage if I let off the throttle over 55. Also, crusing on the interstate I notice that the converter would come unlocked almost at random. I am thinking that I have a Faulty lock-up solenoid..any ideas..Other than the lock up deal the trans shifts great. The trans was built by a reputable builder and has a fresh PATS 3500 lu converter..Just trying to get some feedback before I call the builder Monday. TIA

Sounds like the valve. I doubt there's anything electronic that would be calling for the solenoid to activate under those conditions.

Talked with the builder and he said that it could need the TV cable adjusted. Or he said the converter may just have a harsh lock up to it and to talk to PPS if problem persists. I checked the pedal switch and it is fine. I will put it on a scanner this week to see when the ecm is sending the signal for the transmission to lock. It should lock at 45 instead of 55.
