People run non lockups because they work much more effectively when purpose built and will give give the car potential to be quicker and sometimes much quicker than a lock up. lockups are for cars that won't ever be running faster than 11.0 IMO. Not that the correct lock up cant work it's that the result from a good non locking unit is much more consistent and most often better.

I don't think most lock ups will last in any high hp car. A good non-lock slips less than a lock up that cant lock

wow, i was under the impression that a lock up converter was good for 2 tenths, kinda like an extra gear.

I look at a lU as losing part of whatever gears you arent locked in. A proper NL will slip less than 7%. An unlocked lockup will slip much more. A LU is heavier also. You can use driveshaft speed as reference to get converter slip info. You may wind up an additional 40-50ft by the end of 2nd gear because of the coupling ability of a non lockup.

Do a search !!!! This has been beat to death!!! We run LU converters in all my cars here.. 9 to 12 sec cars. To us if your goin to DRIVE it on the street go with a LU... OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS OPINIONS :p
