I finally got my TC to lock-up (thanks to Steve Wood). Some say locking it up at the track will and will not damage the trans. Or should I just leave it for the chip to do the job.
 
Locking the converter is harder on the transmission and converter both. You better consult with your converter manufacturer (one of the Art Carrs I see) to see if your 9.5" converter can withstand WOT lock-up.

Locking the converter after the 3rd gear shift is recommended if you're going to do it so unless your chip is programmed that way, lock it manually.
 
If the chip does it or you do it it does not matter. The fact is the TCC is still locking at WOT. Some guys lock it in 3rd so it doesnt shift gears with the TCC locked. If your goal is to make the transmission last forever and ever, it is probably not the best thing for it, but neither is drag racing
