ok when i rev it up i hear a quick knocking rattle sound right when it revs and when i hold the RPMs i hear a knocking noise that sounds like its coming from a place lower but still in the timing vhain area. what are the chances this is the stock cam button hitting the timing cover and making the noise?

Depending on mileage and if you still have the stock timing gear you may be hearing the timing chain jumping around on the cam gear which is causing the cam to shudder back and forth. I just barely caught mine before it let go, it was missing 26 or 40 teeth and was setting off the knock sensor at part throttle accel. It sounded perfet at idle but I could rev it up to about 1300 rpm and it had a bunch of valve train sounding voise which was located near the front of the engine.
Good luck.

thats like this is but the timing chain i got in there is 3 months old. i think if i go through the hassle of taking off the front cover im going to stick a good double roller in their. is this a good idea and can a stronger cam button be used w/a double roller?
