Ok guys I am lookin at this GN the only concern I have is the dash its not digital and its not the traditional horizontal speedo. It sorta looks like a GNX dash but not the same layout. All of the gauges are round like the GNX one though. Any thoughts??

It is not unusual for the factory gauges to be upgraded to VDO's
or another brand with a GNX style cluster. If they work and are accurate don't sweat it.

The seller is telling me that when he got the car in 87 it came as a factory option. Is that a possibility??

GNX came with Stewart Warner Gauges.

No GN or TTYPE that I am aware of came with individual gauges. They came with either digital dash or standard analog speedo with digital tach and boost in the lower right side.

No biggie if all the stuff works, maybe a chance to get an upgraded dash...

VDO is quality stuff. If its been done right ( check the wiring for duct tape-I've seen it- ) and it looks good, like someone cared about what they were doing-all should be fine. VDO was commonly used in european cars.

VDO is good stuff but it wasn't OEM like the seller is saying.

Judging by the dash and the console I would like to see what the rest of the car looks like:eek:

parts car

that's a nice looking dash, i like all the gauges there so there is no need for a pod. guess it depends on the individual taste. are you buying the whole car or just parts? from what i see it looks like just parts or a car that was torn down and never completed.

Ok the car is not a parts car. Let me explain. The car was taken apart by the owner in 98 to be fully restored. The frame was sent out for powder coating and new suspension was ordered. As it sits right now frame with suspension on 4 orignal tires. He hasn't taken the motor apart yet, does have a Garret Turbo from a GNX also. Owner wants 6k to hall it off, only thing holding me back is the gauges.

gauges

guess it's all you, how much would it take to put it back together and make ir run like it's suppose to. beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

You are joking right. If that is what is stopping you. You might want to rethink this purchase. It is always cheaper to buy then build. And this is experience talking. No they are not OE. but I am sure there are many here that would trade you clusters. If you must have stock.

Ok so the car has 86k hasn't been on the road since 98 rust free body. What is it worth?

So you are saying that it would be worth it??

Not saying that it is not worth it. Tooooooo many variables for us to guess.
Like if they never even wore out the original tires why is the motor out of it?
What is the body like? interior? is it all there. The GNX turbo is worth $ to the right people. But adds nothing to a GN these days. So you can sell that.
But you are paying 6K for a job. If it was took apart in 98,that means that it was in pretty bad shape in just 12 years.
