Anyone know where I can find one of these or if they even exist? I've heard they were approx 1/18 in scale, were made several years ago & possibly sold through Kirban's, but I don't know this for sure.. Any information would be appreciated..

They do exist. Kirban offered them in the early-mid '90s. I actually bought one but was disappointed for what I received and returned it for a refund. I think the price then was around $275. Don't know the total number produced but I'm sure it was very low and they were sold out. I haven't seen one for resale anywhere so if you do find one be prepared for the price tag(unless they don't know the history of the piece). HTH Dave

Well, at least I know now that they do exist....now all I have to do is find one...lol.

Thanks for the info,

You could commission one!

I have seen some wood models that were excellent. Not cheap & not trash - stop you in your tracks quality pieces hand machined & finished etc. The guy will do what you own I was told. I don't have his name at my fingertips but I know of a couple and their show winning cars who own one of his slightly stylized display models. Over $600 if I remember correctly. Too rich for my blood but I can do some checking if you are interested in following up with this artist/carver.

Thanks for the info, but I'm really just interested in the original. Your info might be useful to someone on this board though..

Well, it took me a while but I finally found & bought one of these rare cars!!! I've learned that only 100 of these hand carved Grand Nationals were made & were sold through Kirban's back around 1991!!!Tom Casperson was the artist & he hand signed & hand #'d the bottom of each car. They are a little bigger than 1/18 scale & come on a black wooden display base that has a small plaque on the front which is also hand signed by Molly of Molly Designs. The one I have is #87 of the 100 made.......
