So the Buick got broken into the other night. They took the after market radio that was in there. It was in there when I purchased the car. My current insurance company is Geico. They told me since the car is so old they couldn't find parts for the car anymore aka radio. I need to know where I can get a stock radio, so I can show them a price for it and they will add it onto the estimate. I would like a high price for it and a low price so I can compare.
Thanks.

This was a common problem back when I was in the car stereo business. The insurance company would never want to replace an aftermarket radio that cost $250.... so my customers would go to the dealership and get a quote. By the time they priced a radio, any broken trim pieces, labor, wiring harness, extra labor, etc... The estimates would usually be a grand or more.

yeah i definitely think they quoted me very low. im going to call a couple places. i did call another local shop and they told me the way they go through geico is if i took it to them they would quote me and then a geico agent would cross reference and do an estimate themselves. Since i already had an estimate from geico already they told me they would be giving me that same quote and it wouldnt of matter if i had start with them or geico id end up at the same place. I might try calling the same place just another location to see if i get the same answer.

I think im going to have to call a local buick dealership and find out a price for a stock radio. What do you think a good price would be?

A good price would be sky high. Other than losing the stereo, did they break any trim, tear anything, cut wires, etc.... If the stock radio plugs are missing, you're 'going to need' a new wiring harness + flat rate to install ;)

First thing I'd do is look at my RPO sticker in the trunk & see what radio came in the car from the factory then get some quotes on a radio. LOTS of them still around anywhere from $45 to $250. There's a new one on Flebay for $699.99
and it's not even a EQ radio it's a UM6. Also do you have concert sound speakers in the doors?
