I'm thinking about upgrading my car. The two things I'm considering are meth injection/new chip or a translator/maf/extender chip. I'm pretty sure I can only afford to do one or the other unless someone is selling used parts.

I currently am running the stock maf and know that they can be flaky and go out at anytime. I just got my car last year and don't really know how old my current maf is. I'm leaning towards the translator/maf/extender chip because of the tuning aspects and the idea of getting a newer less restrictive maf.

There are quite a few details I don't know about my car because the old owner never did any of the work himself. I have receipts for the work (which most of it was done by ANS/Pete Barton) but the receipts don't have specifics. I know the car popped a head gasket at one point and ANS put it back together and at the same time worked the heads and installed a roller cam. I don't know the specs of the cam though. I also know that the chip is an older ANS chip. I was also thinking about dropping the gas tank because I know the car has an upgraded fuel pump but once again I don't know which one.

So whatcha think? Need more info? I'm just looking for some ideas and opinions.

Thanks for the help.

I would probably go with Razors alky kit and a turbotweak alky chip. I just did both and WOW! I still have the stock maf on mine, the trans/ls1 maf will be my next upgrade though.

What russgoodman said.

A scan tool too, if you don't have one.

Happy spooling

I'd go with alky and a turbotweak chip. A newer style MAF sensor is only about $80 and you can try to catch a cheap Translator in the Parts for Sale section or on eBay.
