Anyone got any ideas? Couple of days ago went on a routine drive around town to run some errands. Only unusual thing was a clicking/whirring above 50 in 4th gear when running down local highway. Sounded like a leaf in a fan or even a loud dry speedometer cable, which dissappeared below 30. Couldn't find source of noise. Got home and backed up the driveway to put car away (110 ft up slight hill).

Then couple of days later went out to drive the car. Warmed it up and no reverse. Didn't even slow motor when put in reverse, like not even going into gear. Park and forward gears seemed ok but reverse was like neutral, nothing. Shift linkage seems fine

Here is the car:
67000 original mainly stock GN. Minimal racing. Exclusively driven by me, 50 years old.
67000 mile original transmission.
Had shift kit put in at 42000, back in 1998.
Only engine mod is 009 injectors and cold air intake. Running a reds 93 chip

sounds like the lo reverse clutch is not working.these failures are common on stock units with alot of years on them even if the mileage is low.if pressure gage shows pressure is good remove trans and inspect.do you have engine breaking in manual low gear?if so the low reverse is coming on and applying.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like I need to take it to a xmission shop and have the pressure checked and go from there.

Didn't drive when couldn't get reverse so don't know about the braking in 1st. Can I assume it is OK to drive normally, as long as I don't have to back up? Or do I need to get it towed?

Oh forgot 1 more thing. What if pressure is low? Is that fixable without removing the tranny? And is there anyone in the St. Louis area you would be able recommend? I also have a 200r4 in my 455 GS, lost the 1-2 shift.
