hey guys i have been trying to get very familiar with my scanmaster

and i notice that when i start my car up, its way rich coming out the pipes
when in idle the (bl) values are around 128
but when in gear and moving ,my (bl) values are dropping way low, like around 90-100
i believe that means its pulling alot of fuel out

i recently had a chip made for my car, its an 85 with the intercooled ecm swap
i believe jay carter did the chip .

i also added that mark haufman cold air kit and the impala maf with the translator
i told had mentioned every that was done with the car when i had it burnt

how exactly would i adjust my car to get the values up? is this more of a chip programming fix ? or is it more of a fuel pressure adjustment? maybe a bad part?

i believe a lower number means the car is waaay rich

any advice on where to go with this one?
i am still trying to understand these Bl tables

i hear alot about guys that do ecm swaps, have problems with there cars being really rich

maybe you all can steer me in the right direction with a good chip programmer.

id appreciate any kinda advice or tips

thanx alot
brian

Do you have any vaccum or exhaust leaks I know that is a big problem with low BLM I'am not sure about the running rich. How did that turbo work out.

Burnout

well trhat could be a possibility
i do think i have good vacuum, because i had redid all my lines when i put the new turbo on.

i am starting to become suspisicious of an exhaust leak,
because i did have this problem last year as well,
i think the culprit is the passenger side header, i used the copper gaskets, but its real hard to get a wrench or sockets on those 3 bottom bolts
i have noticed when i get over 5 pounds of boost i can hear some crackling or slight popping, im not getting any knock on the scanmaster, so i do have reason to believe that could be exhaust leaks

btw the turbo came out really nice i was very impressed

what part of detroit are ya from again?:D

You can start turning the FP down and the #s will rise, but watch out for WOT. Don't want it too lean there. It's probably 128 at idle because it's still in open loop at that point and you can see how rich it runs before it hits closed loop and adjusts the fuel. Turning the FP down will help but if you have to take it too low to get the blms right, most likely you'll have to get the chip reprogrammed with less fuel. What's the FP like now? 02 volts at WOT?

On a side note, one of the best things I've done tuning wise was have a chip made that locks the BLMs at 128 during wot. It was much more consistant and easier to tune.

lincoln park is close, i am in taylor
im sure we have seen each other riding around at some period
i seen a nice one on friday, when i was riding around

well about my vacuum and exhaust leaks, i ran some propane around my lines and injectors and it didnt rev up, so i think im good there, imma borrom a vacuum gauge today and get an actual number .
my passenger side header needed a lil tightening on the bottom bolts, maybe that cured it a lil bit.
i may try a Lubrant chip, i heard he's making them again.
my car just doesnt like that thrasher chip, but the jay carter chip seems to make it run a lil better.
the car has higher Blm's with the thrasher, but it doesnt seem to run right for my car
the thrasher keeps it around 110-115, but with the JC it seems to drop as low as 90
sooooooooo ,im still guessing right now as to what it is

till next post, later !
