Looking at converting my Hot Air to an 87 ECM. Will it be possible to use the LT1 MAF with the Translator as well? Has anybody else done this upgrade?

LT1 conversion for hot air car

I converted mine. One of the few mods I did that didn't take a month of Sundays and worked first try.
It did require some planning ahead though. The pipe sizes aren't the same. I bought some 3" exhaust pipe, cut two pieces about 4" long to fabricate couplings. I had the shop expand the one end on each to match the KN filter on the one side and the MAF pipe on the other end.
The ECM conversion was even easier, a no brainer actually.

Thanks for the info. I think that I am going to make the jump. One more question if you don't mind, what did you use to attach the tube to the MAF, TB, and K & N?

LT1 maf couplings

For some reason the message board wouldn't accept my response. Not subscribed to the thread ??
I'll try again.
Anyhow I purchased two 3" sewer pipe connectors. From a hardware store, I think they are MJ couplings intended to connect cast iron pipe to ABS drain pipe. Made with a rubber inner sleeve and a corrugated SS outer sleeve that has a hose clamp attached at each end roughly 3" long.

Yup - I also did the conversion.
Works great.

LT-1 MAF is easy to replce too if ya break one. Plus the tuning features of the Translator.....
