I am planning on getting rid of my 8 position chip because I broke one of the wires going to the switch. Figured I would get a more conventional chip. I also plan on getting an LT1 MAF and translator. My question is: Should I buy these items together? Do I need a chip that knows I have a LT1 MAF and so on. Who would you guys recomend for a chip? Also are there any differences between LT1 MAFs or are they all the same? Thanks for the help everybody.

LT1 MAF etc

My experience is that the LT1 installation was the first and only retrofit I ever did that worked perfectly right out of the box. I bought mine together from John's Performance. At the time I was using a Thrasher chip but now I use a TurboTweak chip, both chips worked great with the LT1 setup. BTW I highly recommend Eric's chip expertise he tailor makes the chip to utilize your setup to its best advantage. I find I get better gas mileage now without penalty.

Sorry, I don't think I asked my question clearly. What I meant is: If I buy a chip now, (to get the car back on the road ASAP) will I need a new one when I switch to the LT1 MAF?

You don't need any special chip to perform the switchover to the LT1 MAF. Just use whatever chip you have in the car and it should run fine. The only chip that does something special is the extender chip with the Translater. It allows the ECM to manage fuel/air better at WOT.
