Anyone know a machine shop in Houston you would trust to perform a line bore/hone on the mains?

How about Houston Engine & Balancing? In Pasadena, on Shaver near Southmore...Don't have the number offhand...

I have been using "Westside Performance Machining" and Kleet (Sp??) from J&K is now there.
They do good work and have 109 experience , but, not sure if they have ever done any cap install on TR motor.
More less looking for references. Anyone?

H.e.&b

Had my 109 done there. Billet center mains, align bore and balance. It took for ever to get it back. They did some mods on the thrust bearings and did not tell me. I was going to do some thing else. I'll have to go with what they did. I had to go with a .010 under size timing chain. HEB told me the crank shaft center to cam shaft center should not have much. I still haven't told them about the .010 under tc. There journal and main clearances are dead on.

I'd definately recommend looking into G&G Performance Engines out of Tomball. I can't say enough good things about the work they do. Zero problems with anything they've done. I believe they did a Stage II motor for EJ Howe a couple years ago too....

Sounds like there were some challenges.
It is my believe that many shops can get the clearances right on the main.
The question in my mind, is the concentricity, squareness, and parallelism of the mains vs the bores and the cam holes.
Looking for a "Save the drama for your mama" kinda machine shop.

Jeryl,

You know how much pain (and machine shops) I went through getting my car together. G&G was great.... Nice clean shop.... good people. I've had no problems with oil pressure or weird noises going on two years now.... AND the car has seen some track time too! Their website is:

Thanks Ron!
I will try and call again today since I was unabel to talk to someone yesterday.

have you been talking to Deah!!!! LOL

No, but I let me share this story ………….
Many years ago, I had a friend who was married, and had a really nice car.
The performance aspects of the car took some time and $$ away from his household and his wife was a bit jealous: "You spend more time and $$ on that **** car than you do on and with me".
So he came to an agreement with himself (no pressure implied  ); Get the car back to 100% stock condition and quit working and dumping $$ in it.
Worked very good for them for a while.

Now, the wife was still very jealous of his relationship and love he had for the car that he was polishing, taking to shows, etc.
Well, ……… long story short ………… since is was "cheaper to keep her", he sold his car a few years later for cash and hid the $$ for his other interest.
They are still married, "till death do them part". He just drinks a LOT now. :frown: ;)
