Pete,
Thanks for letting me try out your new 70 GTQ Turbo.
Install went real good
I had to install a stud (that was missing) on the 3 bolt exhaust housing, I removed the internal wastegate actuator (I use an ATR external), and I removed the 90 degree 1/8 npt oil line fitting off the top of the center section and installed my 1/8 npt with -6 vertical connection instead
The car started right up (no smoke) and I put a quick 2 mile run on it at various speeds / boosts (with Mark watching the FAST system)
Turbo spooled up similar to the 71 GTQ, but seemed to be torquier in the mid range. Sounded real nice with the cutout open
My Turbo should be on it's way back to Innovative tomorrow and I've crossed my fingers, feet, legs, & eyes hoping that they don't play games and they fix the Turbo (that they just rebuilt) that failed after less than 2 weeks on the car (nothing over 16 lbs of boost)
Not a big deal if it was only the center section seals, but this time when the seals failed, and the bearings went south, it allowed the compressor wheel to contact the compressor housing and it scratched not only the inner housing around the wheel, but gouged the compressor wheels also
What a mess
Thanks again for the loaner Pete, I promise to take good care of your baby, and I will get it detailed before I get it back in your hands. Let me know if something comes up and you want the turbo back (at any time) and I will get it back into your hands if not the same day, no later than the next day
I will bring the car to Irwindale on Thursday to let you see how well your turbo works out
I will be running pump gas & methanol but It will be on slicks at least
Thanks to Mark also for dropping the turbo off at my house and riding shotgun on the latest FAST system datalogging
What a great bunch of guys.............
