MAF: 2,1 or no screens??

What is the deal here?

no screens here, just more air, no negatives. Just a gut feeling but i believe the chip plays a part here. i run reds 93 and my car is much more user friendly, stumbles, cold start problems, eratic idle etc are all things of the past with or without screens.

The chip has to burned for NO screens. Is this correct??

I took out one of my screens and the car ran and idled better. When I took out the last screen, car idled like crap.

i have heard that also but cannot confirm. i do know that red recommends removing one screen. it is incredible the difference that chip made for my car! a very knowledgable board member told me that once the original airbox was removed and replaced with a more free air setup, the screens were not a factor. If your car runs better with one than just go that route.

I know that many Red Armstrong chips require that both the MAF screens be removed. It may be necessary for his way-rich fuel maps.
One reputable chip burner told me that removing screens from the MAF can affect its accuracy, and that at least one screen should be retained. I would advise using one screen unless the chip is specifically burned for a screen-less MAF sensor.

Red Armstrong told me to remove 1 screen only.

No screens and my car idled like a top fuel car - sounded way cool but it would stall. Put two back in and car ran much better at start up and part throttle, no stalling. Using a Modern Muscle chip.

Yep my car runs better now with just one screen installed.
Found out my chip is calibrated for one screen...Duhhh

Anyone know exactly the air flow difference between the three different scenarios??

How bout a Thrasher 92 chip. Will the screens or lack of have any adverse affects? I'm having awful cold start issues.

im not to sure about thrashers but i had cold start issues to a point and it was straightened out in the chip.

I didn't have any cold start up issues with my Thrasher92. I had a great idle with one screen only.

my car has great cold start and idle, at least I think. I do have to let it warm up a bit, but as long as I do, then no stumbles. One screen and Thrasher 92.
